MEASURE ONCE, CUT TWICE!!!!!

SHIP'S LOG:

Made it down to ABISHAG on Memorial Day. Just a bit breezy down there and most of the boat owners were down on their boats. 99% didn't go anywhere but simply sat and drank in the cockpit tied securely to the dock. A few boats went out and returned quickly. It was sort of like they felt obligated to " go boating" as it was the "start of the Summer Sailing Season"!

Currently, the shroud rollers (pairs of wooden tubes on the most outboard shrouds to easy the passage of the sheets) are attached with wire ties and electrician's tape. The work very well and are easy to replace should the need arise, but they lack a certain nautical flair. I tried to tie a Turk's Head but could not tie the knot right. Strangely, I can tie the knot so long as I don't try to tie it around something. I'll have to see if I can get some help from Bryon Toss.

Cleaned off the wood on of the cockpit hatch frame from all the excess caulking and hopefully this will be the finish of the leaks from that source. There is a 60% chance that Mother Nature will provide a test for it today, but if not today. certainly before the end of the week.

Did all the measurements necessary to move the EELCTROSAN into the forepeak. Today will see the unit removed from its current location. It could be a rather fragrant project but it is one of those things that has to be done. Then I will glass in shelf supports and the shelf to hold the unit in the locker under the forward bunk. It will then be a "simple matter" to run the hoses through the bulkhead to the unit and attach the wires and the unit will be "ready for a test." Ah the joys of boating.

MASTER'S PERSONAL LOG:

Still waiting on the yard worker (for the engine) and the divers (to set the mooring in New London). As Don Vito liked to say, "Patience, Patience, Patience." God's advice and guidance comes from seemingly strange ways sometimes. I am very hopeful that this will be the week now that Memorial Day Weekend is over. The rush to "get into the water" will have eased and the yard should get the engine done. If they do, fine. If they do not, well they will eventually and until then there is enjoyment just being on the boat and doing little things which are slowly making it home.
